Founder of the Gutenberg Centre URE

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery (University of Granada) specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (University Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga), Dr. Martinez has focused his career around fertility, human reproduction and andrology as director of the Gutenberg Centre URE since it was founded in 1987 until 2017. Dr. Manuel Martínez Moya is our reference and example to follow.

Member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology; Spanish Fertility Society (participated on the National Board between 1998-2000); Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics; founding member of the Fertility Section of the Andalusian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology; founding member of the Spanish Association of Andrology (participated on the National Board between 1993-1997).

He also speaks regularly at both national and international conferences and meetings, and collaborates in the development of books, articles and medical studies of scientific and medical interest.

Co-Director – Medical Director- Gynaecologist specialising in Reproductive Medicine

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery (University of Chile) specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and a Master’s in Human Reproduction (University of Valencia), Doctor Alvarez has spent more than 15 years working both in Chile and in Spain. Before becoming a part of the medical team at the Gutenberg Centre URE in 2010 where he has served as Medical Director since 2012, Dr. Alvarez formerly worked on the medical team at the Valencian Institute for Infertility (IVI) for seven years. Since 2017, Dr. Alvarez is Co-Director of URE, together with his partner Miguel Lara Lara.

As author of remarkable articles of scientific and medical interest such as “Dopamine agonist cabergoline reduces hemoconcentration and ascitys in hyperstimulated women undergoing assisted reproduction”, Dr. Alvarez is a regular speaker at both national and international conferences and meetings. Specifically, he spoke at the ESHRE Conference in 2006 and was pre-selected for the “Promising Young Clinician Award”.

He is a member of the Spanish Fertility Society and specifically forms part of the Endocrinology Interest Group.

Gynaecologist specialising in Reproductive Medicine

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery (University of Malaga) specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (University Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga), Dr. Sanchez has practiced as a gynaecologist in hospitals around Malaga and Almeria since 1997. He has now been a part of the Gutenberg Centre URE team since 2002.

He is a speaker at both national and international conferences and also collaborates in the development of books, articles and scientific studies. He is a member of the Spanish Fertility Society, the Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and the Andalusian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Gynaecologist specialising in Reproductive Medicine

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malaga and specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga), Dr. Flores began his career in medicine in 1996 at the Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga. Three years later, he became a part of the Gutenberg Centre URE team as a gynaecologist, where he led the medical team until 2012. Currently, he practices as a gynaecologist specialising in assisted reproductive technologies.

He is a regular speaker at both national and international conferences and meetings and also collaborates in the development of books, articles and medical studies of scientific and medical interest.

Member of the Spanish Fertility Society and specifically forms part of the Interest Group on Embryonic Health; Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics; Andalusian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology serving as speaker for the Reproduction Section; Spanish Association of Andrology; Spanish Association of Reproductive Biologists.

Gynaecologist specialising in Reproductive Medicine

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery (University of Malaga) specializing in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (University Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga), Dr. Perez began practicing as a gynaecologist at the Gutenberg Centre URE in 2008.

She regularly collaborates in the development of books, articles and scientific studies, and is a member of the Spanish Fertility Society in which she participates in the Andrology Interest Group. She is also a member of the Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics as well as the Andalusian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Co-Director - Embryologist

With a degree in Chemical Sciences (University of Malaga), Miguel became a part of the team of embryologists at the Gutenberg Centre URE in 2001. Ten years later, Miguel received the title of Junior Embryologist granted by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). Since 2017, Miguel Lara Lara is Co-Direcotr of URE, together with his partner Dr. Claudio Álvarez.

He regularly collaborates in the development of articles, projects and scientific studies. He is a member of ASEBIR, the Spanish Fertility Society, the Spanish Association of Andrology and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

He is a member of the Spanish Fertility Society and specifically forms part of the Fertility Preservation Interest Group

Embryologist-Egg Donation Program Coordinator

With a degree in Biology (University of Cordoba), Carolina became a part of Gutenberg Centre URE’s team of embryologists in 2003. In 2011 she received the title of Junior Embryologist granted by the ESHRE.

She regularly collaborates in the development of articles, projects and scientific studies. She is a member of ASEBIR, the Spanish Fertility Society, the Spanish Association of Andrology and the ESHRE.

Belén Buch Tome
Head of Laboratory - Embryologist

With a degree in Biology (University of Malaga), Belen became a part of the Gutenberg Centre URE team in 1992. In 2008 she received the title of Senior Embryologist granted by the ESHRE, and in 2011 she received the ASEBIR Certification in Assisted Human Reproduction. She is part of the Cryobiology of ASEBIR Interest Group. Since 2017, Belén is part of the Board of Directors of ASEBIR.

She collaborates in the development of articles, projects and scientific studies. She is a member of ASEBIR, the Spanish Fertility Society, the Spanish Association of Andrology and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

Carmen Segura García
Embryologist

With a degree in Biology and Specialist y Clinical Analysis (University of Malaga), Carmen became a part of the Gutenberg Centre URE’s team of embryologists since the beginning, in 1988, being one of the team that together with Dr. Martínez Moya achieved the first pregnancy through IVF in the province of Malaga.

In 2011 she received the ASEBIR Certification in Assisted Human Reproduction.

She regularly collaborates in the development of articles, projects and scientific studies, and is also a member of ASEBIR, the Spanish Fertility Society, the Spanish Association of Andrology and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

With a degree in Biology (University of Malaga), Rocío entered into the Gutenberg Centre URE’s team of embryologists in 2008.
