They will search for the donor embryos which bear maximum immunological and physical similarities with the recipients. Recipient patients and their children have the right to request information about their donors, with the exception of their identifying details.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_the_laws_on_embryo_donation\"><\/span><strong>What are the laws on embryo donation?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Embryo donation in Spain is regulated by Spanish Law 14\/2006 on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques and by Spanish Royal Decree-Law 9\/2014, which establishes quality and safety standards for donation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donors (the couple or the single female), must meet the criteria set forth by Spanish Law in order to donate<\/strong>, meaning they must be healthy,\u00a0the female must have been younger than 35 years of age at the time the IVF cycle was performed, the male must have been younger than 50 years of age at the time of IVF,\u00a0they must both have tested negative for infectious diseases and they need to have a normal karyotype result, among other tests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The identifying details of donor couples and recipient couples are stored under strict privacy protocols and encrypted in the clinic\u2019s database;<\/strong>\u00a0the clinic is required to transfer said details to the Assisted Human Reproduction Information System. The person in charge of this system is the General Directorate of the National Healthcare System Services Basic Portfolio, dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"In_what_cases_is_embryo_donation_indicated\"><\/span><strong>In what cases is embryo donation indicated?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The most commons indications are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Primary ovarian insufficiency,<\/strong>\u00a0which may happen spontaneously or secondary to surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gonadal dysgenesis<\/strong>\u00a0and other genetic abnormalities in the makeup of the eggs and\/or sperm.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Serious genetic illnesses<\/strong>\u00a0with a high risk of transmission to offspring and which cannot be prevented through any techniques or treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Previous failed cycles of assisted reproduction treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Recurrent embryo implantation failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_embryo_donation_treatment_like\"><\/span><strong>What is embryo donation treatment like?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This medical treatment involves\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/frozen-embryo-transfer-frequently-asked\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">preparing the recipient\u2019s uterus<\/a>\u00a0for the future embryo transfer procedure<strong>.
