The other question, obviously, is\u00a0<strong>what country and what assisted reproduction clinic to go to<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not an easy decision, as you not only need to take into account opinions about the fertility clinic, but you also need to\u00a0<strong>keep in mind other important factors<\/strong>. Does the clinic have an international department focused specifically on international patients? What are the laws like surrounding assisted reproduction in that country? How much medical and scientific experience do the professionals at the clinic bring to the table? From our point of view,\u00a0<strong>Malaga is the answer<\/strong>, and we\u2019re going to explain to you why that is.<\/p>\n<p>Over recent years Malaga has become one of Spain\u2019s main destinations for tourism and medical tourism. The climate is spectacular and this city enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year. Malaga is located in beautiful southern Spain, in Andalusia, and is\u00a0<strong>perfectly connected to other destinations thanks to its international airport and high-speed train<\/strong>. Malaga is known for being the capital of the Costa del Sol and offers its visitors extraordinary culture and cuisine. Additionally, Malaga\u2019s location makes it easy to travel to other incredible cities in Andalusia such as Granada, Cordoba and Seville.<\/p>\n<p>At the Centro Gutenberg Assisted Reproduction Unit our adventure in Malaga began just two years after the first baby in Spain was born thanks to IVF. Just two years after our clinic was founded we achieved our first pregnancy: this accomplishment was in 1989 and it represented the\u00a0first baby born thanks to IVF in the province of Malaga, the second in Andalusia and the sixth in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, and up until today, URE Centro Gutenberg is the fertility clinic with the<strong>\u00a0highest number of treatments per year in the province of Malaga<\/strong>. We are proud of our journey as a fertility clinic and everything we\u2019ve achieved encourages us to continue improving, as we feel that there is still so much more we have to offer.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_will_your_ivf_treatment_at_URE_Centro_Gutenberg_be_like\"><\/span>What will your ivf treatment at URE Centro Gutenberg be like?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Are you convinced? If so, now we\u2019d like to explain what your fertility treatment will be like with us in four simple steps.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Your first consultation is free \u2013 remotely or in person, however you prefer -, with a medical specialist<\/strong>. This first consultation will last for approximately one hour: the doctor will review your medical history, family history, reproductive history, past and current illnesses, etc. If you\u2019ve undergone fertility treatment in the past or have already done some preliminary fertility tests, we\u2019ll ask you to send us or bring us all of this information. This will help the doctor to obtain a comprehensive view of your medical history and, as a result, make a proper diagnosis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Your arrival to Spain and appointment at our clinic<\/strong>. During this consultation the doctor will perform a complete gynaecological exam and, if necessary, an andrology exam on the male patient as well. To complete the diagnosis we will also assess sperm quality by carrying out a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/how-to-interpret-a-sperm-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sperm analysis<\/a>. This test can be done on the same day as the first consultation or at a later date. Male patients can even do the sperm analysis in specialised laboratories in their country of residence if they prefer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beginning assisted reproduction treatment<\/strong>. Once all of the testing has been completed and the medical team has made a final diagnosis, it will be time to plan your treatment. During this step we will provide you with all the necessary information and we will carefully explain the medication to be used, the number of times you\u2019ll need to come to the clinic, how the procedure is performed, etc. You\u2019ll be accompanied by our specialists at all times so that no question is left unanswered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The return home and Beta-hCG pregnancy test<\/strong>. Once treatment has successfully been completed you\u2019ll need to wait for a few days until a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/pregnancy-test-after-ivf-when-is-it-most-reliable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pregnancy can be confirmed<\/a>\u00a0and so that we can see how the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/beta-hcg-how-interpret-pregnancy-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Beta-hCG value is developing<\/a>. You won\u2019t need to be in Malaga for this step of the process as this test can be done in your country of residence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_long_will_you_need_to_be_away_from_home\"><\/span>How long will you need to be away from home?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The answer to this question can vary greatly as it\u00a0<strong>depends on several factors<\/strong>. The main one is the type of fertility treatment you will undergo, and the second one is the type of tests you will need to do prior to starting treatment. One example is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/diagnostic-hysteroscopy-in-assisted-reproduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">diagnostic hysteroscopy<\/a>\u00a0if we suspect that there may be an issue in the uterus that will need to be corrected before starting treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If your first consultation is in person, however, there will be some advantages<\/strong>\u00a0such as being able to undergo any analyses or diagnostic testing at our Unit without needing to go to a specific external laboratory. You can also obtain the medication you\u2019ll need for treatment and take it back to your home country with you.<\/p>\n<p>Although none of the following is written in stone due to the fact that each case is different and we must personalise each patient\u2019s treatment,\u00a0<strong>speaking in general we can say that<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/in-vitro-fertilisation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in vitro fertilisation treatment using own eggs<\/a>\u00a0you should plan on about\u00a0<strong>16-18 days minimum in Malaga<\/strong>. In special cases, although it\u2019s not advisable, we can reduce the amount of time you need to be in Spain to about 11-12 days if you begin the ovarian stimulation in your country.<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/egg-donation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in vitro fertilisation with donor eggs, or egg donation<\/a>, the average amount of time patients need to stay in Malaga is about\u00a0<strong>6 to 7 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For treatments such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/egg-freezing-frequently-asked-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">egg freezing<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/embryo-freezing-frequently-asked-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">embryo freezing<\/a>, the length of the patient\u2019s stay would be similar, normally about\u00a0<strong>5 to 6 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, in the event that a patient will only be undergoing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urecentrogutenberg.es\/en\/frozen-embryo-transfer-frequently-asked\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">frozen embryo transfer<\/a>, the minimum stay is just<strong>\u00a02 to 3 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Do_you_need_help_planning_your_trip\"><\/span>Do you need help planning your trip?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re aware that many questions can arise when planning a trip abroad, and even more so when the person is travelling to another country for something so important.
